OV Way Halloween Costume Guidelines

Celebrating Halloween the OV Way

 Celebrating Halloween the OV Way

Students and staff are invited to dress according to the guidelines below.

Be Safe

  • Students must keep their face visible at all times.  No masks, hoods, full-face makeup or excessive makeup/gore.
  • Weapons or replica weapons may never be brought to school.
  • Costumes may not be such that they restrict the movement of a student, obscure the view of others, or cause a danger to themselves or others.
  • Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times.  No high heels or open toed shoes.

Be Responsible

  • Costumes may not be revealing or sexually explicit in any way.  No bathing suits, short skirts/shorts, revealing sleepwear, etc.
  • Costumes must not interfere with the instructional program or other student’s right to learn.
  • Costumes must be “appropriate” for students at the middle school level.
  • Keep excessive amounts of Halloween candy at home.

Be Respectful

  • Costumes should be fun but may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, handicapping condition, gender, or individual student/staff member.
  • Students should respect themselves and the rights of others to safely enjoy the Halloween celebration, noontime activity, and related school-sponsored festivities.
  • Respect the class environment and remember that while we want to have fun, we are here to learn.
